Your Person Pod Series : The Parker Pen

The Parker Pen

A friend of mine would misplace his writing pens very often. He would buy only cheap ones so it wouldn't bother him if he lost a pen and needed to by a new one. The only thing he was worried about is his habit.

The Habit of being careless.

One day I suggested him to buy the most expensive pen possible and see what happens. He did that and purchased a 22 carat gold pen.

I spoke to him this morning, after nearly six months.

I asked him if he still continues to loose the pens, the answer was - no. He told me that he is very careful with his costly pen. He said,  himself is surprised how the change happened.

I told him that the value of the pen made the difference and there was nothing wrong with him in person.

This is what happens in our life also. We are careful with things which we value most.

If we value our life and health, we will be careful about what and how we eat, look after our selves by edequately nuturing our mind, body and soul.

If we value our near and dear ones, we will treasure our relationships.

If we value resources and money we will utilise it mindfully.

If we value our time, we will use it constructively rather than waste it.

If we value living beings, we will be extra careful and treat them with respect.

If we value nature, we will make sure we do not exploit it.

Most of the times we realise the value of people, resources and situations only after loosing them or when we understand the threat that we are on the verge of loosing them.
